Great article. I especially appreciated your take on the 10,000 hour thing and how doing something repeatedly doesn’t automatically mean you’ll get better at it. How you’re not that likely to improve if you’re not striving to improve (which we don’t necessarily do with everything).
That sounds much less, shall I say, mechanical than how practice is often portrayed. Maybe because people like to think there’s some magic pill that will make them good at something, when it really requires intention, awareness, conscious effort etc.?
