I thought this was a great overview about habits, Sharon! And I totally agree about the importance of actions and habits. The habit-stacking tends to work really well (I call it “anchoring” a new habit to an old one).
Another thing that can also help in developing new habits is environmental design (for instance, if one wants to eat healthier to get rid of all junk food).
The only challenge I have with habits (which is perhaps a bit ironic because I’m a habit coach on coach.me) is how it’s often portrayed as this one thing that trumps everything else.
But I think there is so much more to life than just habits. In some ways, I think habits are the most boring aspect of life and that it’s just as important to get out of one’s routine as it is to develop one.
